What’s Included in a Fire-Rated Garage Door Inspection?

When you call us in for an inspection or you set up a regular maintenance schedule with us, we do a visual and operational check on your fire-rated garage door. We check:

• The alignment of the curtain, barrel and guides
• The expansion clearance and fusible link locations
• Damaged or missing parts, including slats, end locks, bottom bar, guide assembly, hood and flame baffle, gears, sprockets and spring shafts
• Support equipment, including smoke detector and release device batteries
• Garage door range of motion when opening and closing

Based on what we find in our inspection, we can repair or replace any damaged or malfunctioning parts in your garage door system to ensure you don’t wind up with downtime at inconvenient times.

Fire Door Drop Test

Once we’ve made sure your garage door is fully functional, we’ll perform Fire Door Drop Test (FDDT), which is the standard protocol for checking compliance with NFPA 80. Passing the test will indicate that your fire-rated garage door is up to code, and we’ll give you a written inspection report to prove your door’s compliance. We’ll also put a certification sticker on your fire-rated garage door with the date of your FDDT.
